Jim's suggestion of wearing a snowmobile-suit is very good. I have been riding both snowmobile, dogteam and motorbike at very low temperatures, and I find the gloves and the boots to be the most tricky to keep warm. I don't give a damn for heatpads or electrically heated shirts...when they run out of power, you're in big trouble !
The best footwear I have ever owned is a pair of Steger Mukluks, made in Ely,Minnesota. Keep my foot warm in -40. Good looking too, can't see why they wouldn't be good for bikers as well, extremly lightweight and soooo comfy. As long as it's dry weather. About the gloves, forget about the finger-style and get yourself a pair of knitted mittens 100% sheepwool, and a pair of leather mittens to cover them with. Integral-helmet ! And enjoy !
